FAQ

Technical Information

For common usage, you have to charge the battery just once in half a year.

The battery status can be checked in the application. We will inform you that the battery is low well in advance using your email and a notification. If you still don't recharge the battery, your Doorito will stop working.

You can put a SIM card of any mobile operator into your mobile phone. Vodafone is just a provider to connect the module to our servers.

Yes. If the Vodafone network is not available in the area, the module connects to a different available network. No additional fee is charged for this.

Doorito contains an optical sensor able to recognize the presence of a nearby obstacle (e.g. a doorframe or wall). Removing this obstacle (the door opens and Doorito moves away from the doorframe or the wall) is considered as opening the door.

The delay between opening the door and triggering the alarm is necessary to ensure a long battery lifetime. Your Doorito is not connected to the GSM network permanently. It starts connecting to the network when you open the door. The process takes about 20 seconds, depending on the strength of the signal. Even if the door closes during this time, it doesn't prevent the alarm from firing.

Yes. After firing the alarm your Doorito waits until the door stops moving for at least 10 seconds. Opening and closing the door during this time is considered a part of the original alarm. Only after this period can another alarm be triggered.

Battery lifetime and the amount of the data transferred are influenced by the way you use your Doorito. Common usage can be defined using the following example: The module is turned on 100% of the time, i.e. 365 days a year. The door gets opened (the module detects a movement) 30 times a day or 12,000 times a year, no matter whether the module is locked or unlocked.

Safety

Your Doorito can't be turned off unless it is unlocked. So a thief can't turn off the unlocked Doorito. The locked Doorito can be reset but you have to hold the button for at least 90 seconds, and by this time you will receive a notification about the intrusion.

Opening the door is logged immediately and closing it quickly doesn't prevent the alarm from triggering. A short delay between opening the door and the alarm is necessary to ensure long battery lifetime.

If the expiration date of your Basic traffic package is approaching, we will let you know via email. You will have enough time to renew the service. Nevertheless, when the service expires, your Doorito operation will be suspended until you renew this service.

Operating charges

Yes, to use the Doorito app an Internet connection is required. It doesn't matter which mobile network operator you use. Doorito itself is connected to the Internet during the production stage.

To be able to work, Doorito has to be connected to the Internet. Various types of information are sent via Internet to our servers and then evaluated and sent to your phones and computers. We ensure these services for you within the “Basic traffic” package which is free of charge for the first year. You can renew the package for another year in the user section.

Yes.The Basic traffic provides the security of the door for the needs of a common household which represents 1000 opening the door per month.

If the Basic traffic is not sufficient for you, you can extend the traffic in the user section.

If the expiration date of your Basic traffic package is approaching, we will let you know via email. You will have enough time to renew the service. Nevertheless, when the service expires, your Doorito operation will be suspended until you renew this service.

Pairing and sharing

To pair successfully, the user has to know the pairing code and have Doorito in his/her hands (to activate the service mode). After pairing Doorito the user becomes its owner. Then, Doorito will be removed from the accounts of previous owners and all the owners who have had access to the device.

If you want other members of your household to control the device, you can enable them using the application. This function is called sharing. You can find it in the module detail in the application. Just enter an email address of the user you want to share the module with and specify permissions you want to grant.

If you lose the code on the card don't worry that the individual who finds the card will seize control over your device immediately. Pairing is possible only if your Doorito is in the service mode. Nevertheless, contact us if your pairing code gets lost.

Master (owner)

The sole user who paired Doorito having used the pairing card (owner) can create new schedules or modify the old ones.

Permission to share on

Specifies whether a user has a permission to share the module with other users or remove the sharing.

Permission to deactivate schedules

Specifies whether a user has a permission to temporarily deactivate a schedule.

Advanced features

Geofencing is a feature that notifies you if you leave your home and forget to lock your Doorito. You select the Doorito location in the map and choose a distance. If you exceed this distance and your Doorito is unlocked, the application will notify you. This feature is used just to notify you; it will never lock or unlock your Doorito for you.

You can set up the automatic locking on the time you are not at home. You can even set up to unlock the device automatically. You can create multiple schedules, e.g. for even/odd weeks. Each plan consists of separate rules. A rule is defined as a separate locking or unlocking of your Doorito in the specified time and day of the week. If necessary (e.g. when you get sick), you can temporarily deactivate the schedule. During deactivation you specify when the plan should reactivate automatically.

Example

My husband and I have created our schedules as we both have fixed working hours. When my husband got sick, he deactivated the schedule for 7 days as he didn't want our Doorito to lock automatically during the time he was at home. When leaving the house he locked our Doorito manually using the application. He didn't recover in 7 days and so he then deactivated the rules for another 3 days. However, he resumed working the second day, so he manually reactivated the schedules in the application.
